Mama Arise VSLA
Mama Arise VSLA is a women’s empowerment project by Beyond Nations dedicated to strengthening the financial stability and independence of women, especially mothers of students at Pleroma Christian School and other women within the surrounding community. The project creates a supportive environment where women develop healthy savings habits, improve financial management skills, access opportunities for entrepreneurship, and build a reliable support system for their families.
Members meet weekly as a group to make personal savings contributions and contribute to a shared social fund. These gatherings provide more than a place to save — they are opportunities for women to receive practical financial management training, learn responsible money practices, discuss business ideas, and encourage one another as they work toward greater financial security.
The social fund provides assistance during times of emergency or unexpected challenges, helping members support one another and reduce vulnerability during difficult seasons. Through the VSLA structure, members can also access manageable loans from the group savings fund to support small businesses, address family needs, and invest in income-generating opportunities.
At the end of each savings cycle, members receive their accumulated savings along with the returns generated through the group’s lending activities. These funds enable women to reinvest in their businesses, meet important household needs, support their children’s education, and continue building a more secure future.
Through the Mama Arise VSLA, Beyond Nations is empowering women to develop financial independence, strengthen their families, and create lasting change within their communities.
